I had 5 days on the lovely Portland Roads with my family and it was a dream! Knowing nothing about boats we opted to have John as our skipper. Not only did he take us to some fantastic (uncrowded!) locations and cook us excellent meals, he shared his wealth of knowledge about the islands, the Ngaro people and the reef. We also finished the trip with more confidence in piloting the boat. It was a relaxing and enriching holiday and I would absolutely recommend Portland Roads to anyone who asks. I look forward to being able to travel on one of their boats again - this time as my own captain :) Thank you so much John.

Portland Roads-Sailing the Whitsundays was a dream holiday made even better because John was our skipper as well. John’s knowledge of the area and his interaction with us, teaching us how to manage a boat and showing us fantastic places to snorkel, bush walks with the best views, drinks and dinner in bays with beautiful sunsets made this holiday extra special. He’s also a great cook providing meals were that delicious. The 6 of us had the best time. Thanks John.

I highly recommend Portland. Easy to understand instructions and a problem free experience. We hired Due West which was a pleasure to skipper. The boat has an amazing amount of refrigeration space and the big bathroom next to the master berth was superior to previously hired yachts.The staff were helpful and overall hard to fault the whole experience.

I'm not sure what I loved the most- the space and luxurious features of the yacht, the wind in the sails, waking up each morning to pristine islands, the colours of the water, lying in bed and watching the moon and stars through the porthole, swimming with the fish, exploring ancient caves or walking along Whitehaven- one of the most beautiful beaches in the world...It was all wonderful. What an experience! From their commitment to the local First Nations peoples, land protection and conservation, environmental sustainability, knowledge and passion for the area, leading us to the best places to visit, sailing tuition, food, fun and the boat it was a class act which I highly recommend to everyone. I cannot speak highly enough of the team - John, Mike, Ed and Dean. They all genuinely care not only about their guests, but also the social and physical environment their business exists in. This is a business I can get behind knowing that they actually do good, not just minimise harm. Portland Roads - Sailing the Whitsundays' yachts host all the luxury you could ever need. They're spacious, clean and simply special. Waking up on board a luxury yacht and sitting on the deck with a cup of tea taking in the quiet morning in a stunning anchorage will be a memory I cherish forever. But it doesn't stop there! What puts this business in a league of its own is the work they do both protecting and preserving the ocean and reef that we are so fortunate to sail around. John also works closely with the Ngaro people. The acknowledgment of country he does before we head out to enjoy the land and ocean of the Ngaro people is seriously special. John is the type of person who will always to everything he can to make sure your experience is beyond your wildest expectations.
