We did a 4 day skippered sailing trip in 2016 on the catamaran ,Portland roads, and what an experience it was.John the owner/manager was fantastic and ethos the team bring to the customer and the trip was truly world class.White Haven beach is not to be missed and the overall experience was fantastic.We would be happy to undertake another sailing adventure at any time with this crew !

We’ve just arrived home after spending 6 days sailing the Whitsundays on the Ruby Sunday. As sad as we are to be home we know we’ll definitely be back again next year. This was a holiday never to be forgotten!There were 8 of us travelling on the Ruby Sunday and only one of our party had any sailing experience and that was minimal at best. We were slightly apprehensive during the build up but after our briefing by the Portland guys we up and running. They were so thorough with their instructions and at any time were only a phone call or text message away to provide advice. Within hours of leaving Airlie Beach we were sailing like professionals and attacking the waves!!Having been to a few of the Whitsunday Islands previously we thought we knew what was in store. How wrong we were. Having the boat and freedom meant that each day we could choose from any of the 100’s of bays, beaches, reefs and beautiful swimming spots. No 2 days were the same. We found hidden gems of white sandy beaches. We were snorkelling from the boat in coral reefs unlike any we’ve ever seen on an organised tour. We swam in crystal clear blue/green water and felt like the world was our oyster. Unfortunately having been so spoilt, there is no way we could ever go back to an island holiday again on the Whitsundays, not when we know what hidden gems are out there now!The Ruby Sunday itself was a great, well equiped and comfortable boat. It slept 8 people and of course there were 8 of us but ideally I think it suits 6 people better. Having said that we never got under each other’s feet and with the seating area at the back, the lounges out at front and even the roof, we all felt spread out and comfortable. The vessel had everything we could need for a perfect holiday with a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms, comfortable beds, Bluetooth speakers, a huge esky that kept our drinks cold for the full 6 days (which was no mean feat) and even a great coffee machine with milk frother!!!I would highly recommend this holiday to everyone regardless of sailing experience. It truly was a holiday to remember and absolutely perfect. However we’ll definitely be back next year - for longer this time and with an aim to make it even better. It may not be easy to top but we’ll give it a bloody good go!! Thanks to everyone at Portland guys, we’ll see you again soon!

Our five nights aboard the luxury yacht Whitsunday Freedom in the beautiful setting of the Whitsunday islands was magical. Under the remote expert guidance of the wonderful Ed, we sailed, snorkeled, explored, and relaxed. Ed even arranged a miracle - the delivery of a full soda stream gas bottle on the remote Whitehaven Beach to ensure our daily sunset G&T ritual could continue. Thank you John and Ed. We'll be back. We went sailing on SY Whitsunday Freedom end of June. What a luxurious catamaran! Ed was our friendly skipper and I was able to be at the helm under his supervision for most of our charter. Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side as it was a bit windy. Gusts with up 30 knots. I had a ball being at the helm at these conditions. Speeding along with up to 10 knots downwind. The Whitsunday Freedom was extremely stable and my wife did not get seasick at all despite the fact that this was her first trip on a sailing yacht. Can’t wait to do this again when the sun is out!

Due West... we will remember you forever. Thanks to John and Deano for our wonderful sailing adventure. This has been a bucket list number 1 for the husband for years and it did not disappoint!! Deano, we can not thank you enough for all your advice and recommendations....what you don't know isn't worth knowing :) You made our adventure so amazing! Don't go anywhere else people.... Portland Roads is the best. We will be back! xx Ohhh and I forgot to say thank you for the Nespresso coffee machine on board....this made me, wifey, very happy :))

We rented 'Lucy' for a week of sailing with my family, and had the most wonderful experience.... the team at Portland Roads were warm and welcoming from the first minute, the Boat was beautifully appointed, and was extremely comfortable! The added benefit of being able to use the shore facilities in Airlie really helped settle us into the holiday spirit! It was a holiday we will never forget!
