We did our first ever sailing trip with Portland Roads and I can not recommend them or the experience highly enough.The Ruby Sunday was spacious, easy to sail and had everything that we needed on board to cook up a feast every night.Everyone knows the Whitsunday Islands are beautiful and they certainly do not disappoint. I only wish we had more time to explore all of them! And in saying that, we will be back again next year! CAN'T WAIT!

The best and most relaxing holiday I’ve ever been on! We were on the Whitsundays Freedom which was absolutely incredible! The boat was large enough for everyone to space out and relax with lounge areas in and out of the sun. Six of us went on a 6 night trip with the worlds nicest skipper and reef guide, Ed!The boat and it’s facilities were top notch with a coffee machine, ice maker for cocktails and all the creature comforts you would want for your stay. Each morning we would wake up in paradise and decide what to do, go find some turtles, snorkel for hours, relax on a deserted island beach, find a perfect spot for sunset. It was really the most magical holiday experience. John and his team really care about the reef and make sure they operate in a sustainable way. Honestly I couldn’t recommend this trip enough.

Sailed the beautiful Ruby Sunday a couple of weeks ago with friends and had the most amazing time.Communication from the team at Portland Roads right up to arrival was efficient and professional, as was the training on the first day with Mike.I would not hesitate recommending Portland Roads for those who want to sail around the Whitsundays, be it novices or those more experienced.

We chartered "Lucy" (a Lagoon 420) over the Easter break and had such an amazing experience. Deano from Portland Roads was extremely helpful with recommending an itinerary for our 5 day cruise and the boat was in great shape. Boy oh Boy!! Was this an EXPERIENCE!!We booked this trip on the Ruby Sunday with a few friends to celebrate my partners birthday. I can safely say it was a birthday that won't be forgotten!We were a little worried with our lack of experience, not ever having driven or sailed a boat before but this was all put to ease with the training and reassurance from Mike at Portland Roads on day one.The Catamaran itself was clean, comfortable and spacious enough for the 8 of us with 4 double cabins and sliding windows in the Galley opening up the inside to the out.It had all the equipment and utensils needed for our 6 night trip. Stovetop, Microwave, Oven & BBQ. Along with two huge fridges and a 200 can esky.Some notable highlights of our experience include swimming with the turtles at Langford Reef, Bushwalking on Hook Island around Nara Inlet, Snorkelling at Manta Ray Bay, Visiting Hill Inlet Lookout and the view over Whitehaven Beach, a night in Hamilton Island dining out and using their main pools and lastly finishing off our trip with one last swim along Sandy Bay.There is soo much more to the Whitsundays to explore and soo much we just simply did not fit in.That is why we will be booking this AGAIN for next year with the family!A big thank you to Portland Roads and their team for making this such a great experience. So helpful with every aspect of booking from helping you feel confident enough to navigate the beautiful waters of the Whitsundays, how to provision your boat and where to go! We all had the best time and the kids keep asking when we are going back! Just booked again for next year! John runs a tight ship and mike was great at helping us set the sails!

We stood on the deck of Whitsunday Freedom drank champagne, danced and sang as we watched the sunset create silvery shimmery beams over the water - it was a sensational way to celebrate my birthday !. A week on Whitsunday Freedom was an extraordinary and unique experience that i am so pleased to have shared with my family. The boat is AMAZING, spacious, spotless and has everything you need for a comfortable trip exploring the beauty of the Whitsunday Islands. It's a write your own adventure story. Ed and Johnny expertly guiding us to make sure we got the best experience possible - we even learned to make our own water. The team are very conscious of sustaining the environment and leaving 'only footprints" on the Ngaro lands. I wouldn't hesitate to do this again,

Cannot speak more highly of our family's recent experience in the pristine majesty of Ngaro Country (the Whitsundays) aboard Portland Roads Whitsundays' latest and greatest addition to their fleet -  Whitsunday Freedom.For two thirds of our group of six, this was our first bare boating charter so we entered the week with a blend of excitement and some trepidation at the challenge ahead.  However, we could not find a more professional, supportive and informative team than John, Ed and the team at Portland Roads Whitsundays.Their guidance was not purely limited to the functional aspects required to manage the operations of the vessel. Prior to and during the trip, they provided valuable information about the Whitsundays, nature walks, prime snorkelling and anchoring locations based on the wind and tidal conditions of the day. Of particular interest to me was their sharing of knowledge about the region's history and the importance of maintaining the land and waterways as the traditional owners have done for millenia.We were unanimous in our praise for the role the mighty Whitsunday Freedom played in the enjoyment of our trip. She handled any adverse conditions with consummate ease and four air conditioned double cabins, each with their own bathrooms, provided comfort and space below deck.Above deck, we had an embarrassment of facilities and spaces at our fingertips including in and outdoor dining areas, an outdoor daybed, front lounge and rooftop sunbed - all great places to either congregate or spend time alone drinking in the phenomenal surroundings.Having access to a water desalination facility (we made our own potable water every day!) is a clear point of difference over other vessels too.All up, our Whitsunday experience was one we won't forget and hope to replicate in the near future. Our thanks to the Ngaro People for sharing their country and to our gregarious friends at Portland Roads Whitsundays for being so passionate in their nurture of it.

We had an amazing experience with Portland Roads and the Whitsunday Freedom. Our first bareboat/charter experience and it exceeded expectations! John and Ed are incredibly knowledgeable and we got first class local advice from them both throughout the trip, including detailed charting and navigation walkthroughs. Their commitment to the health of the reef is excellent and it's clear that they operate their business with sustainability front and centre.The boat itself (a Lagoon 450) was incredibly comfortable and well equipped. Modern appliances, water maker, ice maker, coffee machine, two fridges, dedicated freezer, air conditioning and much more. Bedrooms and bathrooms were more comfortable than we expected and the living area was very spacious.A truly faultless experience in all aspects, and one that we'll remember forever!
