An absolutely amazing week onboard Whitsunday Freedom!! The team at Portland Roads made the trip so easy for us from start to finish. We had the wonderful Josh, as our skipper and master reef guide, and he exceeded expectations. His knowledge of the reef the the whitsunday region really added to the overall trip. He took us to some incredible snorkelling locations and hikes. The hike on South Molle was a big highlight! We will definitely be returning for round 2. A big thank you to the team at Portland Roads for a week we will not forget.

An enjoyable 5 day experience aboard Whitsunday Freedom in the capable hands of Skip, Josh, together with friends. Josh shared his passion and knowledge of the beautiful Whitsundays environment and history in an engaging manner while on board this very comfortable craft.The expeiernces of being under sail, lowering and lifting anchor together with mooring to buoys all new to us.Josh engaged with us socially, also helping out in the galley.A truly happy and memorable time and great to experience such respect for the environment and history of the area.

Our sailing experience on the Whitsundays Freedom was fantastic. This boat is the largest in the fleet & contains 4 double beds with ensuites & showers.The boat was equipped with 2 fridges & a freezer plus a large esky so no problems in regards to storing perishables & frozen goods along with the obligatory drinks. The boat was also equipped with an ice maker. This boat also was able to generate its own fresh water which was drinkable but some may wish to purchase fresh water containers,We were all novice sailors & took up the option of a skipper being provided. Young Josh (the skipper,) is also a Marine Biologist & provided some thought provoking insights into the climate change impacts onto the coral & sealife which were very balanced & certainly not the doom & gloom views of the current climate change activists.We left it to Josh to choose which islands we visited & he chose those sites after consulting the winds & tides to ensure we had safe anchorage’s each night,. Although when moored to the buoys at tide changes it can become noisy with the buoys knocking against the hull.The hi lights of the trip were the spectacular views overlooking Whitehaven beach & estuary along with interesting beach & flora & fauna walk. Our snorkeling adventures on viewing the coral & swimming with huge shoals of fish along with several large Wrasse was breathtaking. Another interesting topic & viewing was the demise of the Aboriginal Ngaro peoples who once inhabited the Islands, but have now moved on although they still maintain their relationship with country.We used Whitsundays Provisioning for our food catering . The food & menus provided were excellent & the quantities in most cases were more than adequate. We did run out of butter & milk on the last day so if you are big uses of these items you need to inform the company when ordering.Our skipper Josh was certainly a hilight, not only driving the yacht but also helping us in the kitchen.In summary we highly recommend Portland Roads & the overall Whitsunday experience.For information as novices unfamiliar with bare boat chartering, we did contact the owner John Linton several times & nothing was a problem to him.Sue & Steve CowellOur trip was 14th to 20th May.

So good we’re going again! From the moment we booked to the minute we departed we enjoyed a brilliant adventure with a professional yet laid back team. John and Deanno’s passion for the sea is matched only by their desire for all guests to enjoy and love the Whitsundays as much as they do. The induction, advice, and suggested itinerary gave us great confidence to set sail and we were very sad to say goodbye to our floating home when it was all over. Can’t wait for next year to do it all again (but differently) on their newest vessel, Whitsunday Freedom.

The whole experience with Portland Roads was phenomenal. All staff were excellent at communicating and prepped our very inexperienced group well for a safe and fun week out on the catamaran. The boats are absolutely beautiful - well equipped and kept in prime condition. Couldn’t recommend highly enough, we’ll be back!

Sailing on ‘Portland Roads’ was the experience of a lifetime! We loved every minute of our stay on this beautiful vessel. The staff were exceptional - briefing & educating very novice sailors/ boaters before leaving Airlie Beach. We felt so supported during our entire trip and the staff were always happy to help with any queries or questions at any time of day. The boat was wonderfully clean, comfortable and luxurious! Our whole experience with Portland Roads exceeded our expectations.We also loved and appreciated how dedicated Portland Roads was to environmental sustainability and their acknowledgement and respect towards the traditional owners of the land - The Ngaro People. We can’t wait to come back!!

Our family of 5 and 2 friends - have recently had the most amazing holiday around the magnificent Whitsundays aboard "Lucy". The location is phenomenal - peaceful & serene - the waters are the best clear blue anywhere in the world. "Lucy" is a magnificent catamaran and fully equipped for our needs with A/C, plenty of fridge space and 4 lovely double bed cabins (even with separate showers and toilets for the kids and us!).The staff at Portland Roads - Sailing the Whitsundays went above and beyond to make sure that we had all the info we needed before leaving the marina, the vessel was spotlessly clean and stocked with all our requested food/drink and it was ready to go on time.If you a looking for a truly sublime, relaxing holiday in the waters of the best continent on the planet, then I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Portland Roads - Sailing the Whitsundays!We are planning to take out "Whitsunday Freedom" later this year!Soooo exciting

My family plus my daughter's boyfriend and our German exchange student enjoyed a wonderful week on the Ruby Sunday. It was great to settle in at the dock on the first night and have time to get our supplies. The lesson from Mike the following day was excellent. Fortunately, two of our group have some boating experience.We had the most wonderful time. The weather was windy most days which limited us to the western side of the large islands. That didn't hamper us much. The boat is so comfortable. We loved the tender to zip around in and to fish from. We snorkeled most days and saw amazing corals, fish and turtles. We even spotted a Dugong in Dugong Bay! On a couple of days we put up the smaller sail - it was fabulous to move along silently. During this phase a whale surfaced within 10m of our boat. A stunning experience.We all highly recommend this holiday. The whole Portland Road team are friendly and helpful. Our daily check ins with Mike ran smoothly and were invaluable. The books on the boat for reference are superb.We're very much looking forward to our next visit.
