A few weeks ago my husband and I, with 3 other couples were lucky enough to go bare boating on the magnificent Whitsunday Freedom. This trip was booked over a year prior so we were all super excited when it finally come around. On the day we arrived we were met by Brad who kindly got us organized and all our goodies safely on the boat. We spent the first night on the boat at the Marina and the next morning Brad was back to debrief us for our trip and also brought us a few items from the store we had forgot, thanks Brad, your a champion.Brad done a fabulous job on our debrief, the crew all felt much more confident about getting out and on the water. So off we sailed for the next 6 days exploring all of the beauty around the Whitsunday Islands. What a truly magical time we all had, everyone was so excited and couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful it was and how lucky we all were to be enjoying the trip of a lifetime. I was lucky enough to celebrate my Birthday on the boat and my girlfriends had brought some dress up costumes on to the boat, so of course, who did we all get dressed like!! Gilligan’s Island characters 😂🤣😂 we had the best fun that night. The whole experience from the beginning to the end was awesome, I can highly recommend Portland Roads, the only guys you will want to jump on their sailing adventures with. Thank you so much John and Brad, can’t wait for our next trip, Cheers from all the crew.Carmel & Ray, Karen & Mark, Maree & Mark, David & Michelle

What an extraordinary holiday experience we had with our friends on our Platinum Chartered yacht for 6 days on "Whitsunday Freedom" with John and Cath from Portland Roads. The professionalism and care was evident from day one and made it a very relaxing and informative sailing holiday. We were always asked our opinion of the days activities, based on the weather conditions, to ensure we had the most from our holiday. The boat was so comfortable and fitted out with everything you could ask for. Food was fantastic, beautifully presented and plentiful. Cheese platters at sunset with a lovely wine as we reflected on our days activities, whether snorkelling, swimming, bush walking, reading or just looking over the magnificent blue waters of the Whitsunday Islands. There was never a shortage of fun, laughter and activities every day.John's knowledge and passion of the Great Barrier Reef including Ngaro Indigenous experiences gave us a better understanding and appreciation for our new home over the 6 days.I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a sailing holiday to look no further than Portland Roads. This is a top of the bucket list experience that we will always treasure.Thank you John, Cath and the devoted team at Portland Roads.Cathie & Keith

Huge shout out to the awesome team at Portland Roads. We had a great six day charter onboard the beautiful Whitsunday Freedom-a luxury Lagoon 450S sailing catamaran. We were a group of four couples and absolutely loved everything about this fine lady. A very spacious boat with loads of room and well appointed with fresh water making facilities, aircon cabins, great galley and ensuites to each cabin. A beautiful boat to sail or motor and very easy to handle. Thank you to John and especially Brad-from the initial briefing to your excellent daily suggestions for island hoping and snorkelling hotspots. Our time Cruising the Whitsundays, watching the most stunning of sunsets on the deck with close friends and maybe a cocktail or two, Portland Roads you were awesome. We will definitely be back. Thanks again from the pirates.Karen, Mick, Jana, Tom, Jo, Stephen, Kaz and Laurence.

This type of trip has been on my bucket list for at least the last 10 years, and I had been working on my partner to try to make it happen. I needed to sail somewhere with some friends. All of a sudden and opportunity opened up, and we were able to get a berth when one of the pre-booked couples could not go, and trip on. 8 berths with 4 people I had only recently met, could be fun.First day - met by Brad and straight away I was feeling comfortable. Brad showed enthusiasm, professionalism and a sense of pride in the boat he was managing. We had our briefing and spent the second night at Caves Bay, what a sunset and what a boat, the Freedom was welcoming us on board.Next day, off to Butterfly Bay and then got the “Jenoa” up and got over 4 knots, boy were we excited. Moored at Mackerel Bay and another great day was had. Could not believe the beauty of the place and the ease of using the boat. The next couple of days I understood that my crew mates were full on partygoers, and I was finding it hard to keep up. However, I just had to look to the left or right, see the boat and the view and wow, how lucky was I.Over the next couple of days, we got the sails up a number of times, exceeded 6 knots regularly with just the Jenoa up and kept getting gob blasted by the beauty and serenity of the place.Turtle Bay - OMG - we got the best condition’s- we stayed 2 nights.Last day and we had a great wind for sailing. Got both sails up and won’t say the speed - but we were flying.Bucket lists are hard to tick off, and sometimes they don’t meet the expectations.THIS TRIP exceeded what I was expecting. Thank you so much for providing a boat that took us to an amazing place in safety, comfort and style. Love your work.

Our dream trip to sail the Whitsundays began in early October and we had a magical week on Portland Roads 450S Lagoon catamaran, Whitsunday Freedom, with two other couples over six days of sailing around this amazing environment. The Portland Roads team that supported our holiday were professional, well organised, friendly and made us feel that we were very well looked after. We received great hospitality and advice from our skipper John, who kept us on course and with his vast knowledge of the Whitsundays, took us to amazing coves to snorkel and enjoy the tranquillity of this special part of Australia. With John as our sail guide and Catherine as our chef, they gave us an experience we will remember for a lifetime and highly recommend. As this was our first trip of sailing the Whitsundays, John gave us great insight on the reefs eco system and managed the itinerary of our trip around the Whitsunday Islands superably, including a visit to the magical Palm Bay resort on Long Island, which we will definitely visit again on our next sail with Portland Roads. One of the great features of Portland Roads was access to the Ocean Club at Abell wharf, which provided full bathroom, laundry and BBQ facilities when we were docked overnight at the marina. This facility, which was right next door to our mooring, allowed us to have a refreshing shower and access to washing machines, free coffee, a beautiful deck and BBQ facilities. We totally recommend Portland Roads for your sailing adventure in the Whitsundays.
