Spent a week sailing the Whitsunday Freedom with our kids and partners. What a week it was, we saw whales, turtles, sting rays, fish galore and beautiful coral. We walked the islands, swam the seas and sailed the ocean. It is a holiday everyone needs to do at least once in their lifetime. Remarkable company to do it through, very environmentally conscientious, and the facilities for a virtual skipper were fantastic, I felt very safe out there by ourselves knowing Brad was watching over us.

So I was lucky enough to share this beautiful boat with 5 amazing friends. I am still driving my work colleagues crazy with stories of the trip and the fun times had. Seriously the most calming experience of my recent memory, plenty of support from Mike and John and tips for an even better experience based on what Mother Nature is offering at that time. We took the bareboat option and catered for ourselves based on the tips offered by the Portland roads crew, simply put this is a must do for anyone and everyone even remotely interested in sailing or Whitsundays or whales or just hanging out with a few cocktails and good company. Thank you so much Portland roads crew and please keep up the great work in offering such a memorable and affordable experience.

My first time sailing and I could not have wished for more! John and Cath are generous and knowledgeable hosts, they know the best places to sail and stay overnight, they share their passion for the marine environment , Ngaro Sea Country and the local traditional owners. My highlight was meeting Aunty Sue and hearing her families stories of this special place. The boat was pure luxury with everything you need to fully relax and unwind. Recently spent a week sailing Ruby Sunday around the Whitsundays, an absolute must do for anyone who enjoys the outdoors! John and the team were brilliant right from the point of booking (and our many Covid related re-schedules, which they never hesitated with). It was a great welcome to the boat and the briefing was thorough. The boat was exactly as we had hoped - well appointed and in great condition. Some great recommendations also saw us visit some anchorages that weren’t in the original itinerary. Just can’t wait for our next trip!

What an amazing experience. The absolute best way to see the beauty of nature. John and his team at Portland Roads made our trip on Due West one we will never forget. The service is simply the best. Getting to know John as he travelled with us I realised his passion for the history and conservation of the beautiful Ngaro Sea Country. We have just returned from the most amazing week sailing around the Whitsundays on the Portlands Roads Whitsundays Freedom boat. Their staff are so knowledgeable; respectful and accommodating (even with non boaties like myself). The boat is very well equipped including the kitchen and there are several zones on the boat to laze around and admire the magnificent scenery. The whales; snorkelling; island walks and weather all added to this experience. I highly recommend this holiday.

We have just completed an amazing trip on Whitsunday Freedom , a Lagoon 45, managed by Portland Roads.Being an experienced skipper of the "stink boat" variety, with limited dinghy sailing completed as a kid, I was extremely impressed with the professional safety briefing before being permitted to set sail.The handover provided by Brad was second to none, and provided comfort for the ensuing voyage. This was backed up with ongoing 24/7 communication with Brad and John, with constant reference to potential boat safety issues covering weather and locality. They recommended places to go and had genuine consideration for their guests welfare and the Ngaro countryside that we were fortunate to visit.This level of service would not be forthcoming from a large company and is testament to the dedication of a small Aussie company.Thanks guys for hosting us.
