Amazing experience! The Whitsunday's has so much to offer and we were lucky enough to explore the islands by a bareboat catamaran with Portland Roads on Southern Man. We just completed our 3rd charter with Portland Roads.Our guide, Brad, could not have been more helpful or enthusiastic about our experience onboard and our journey in the magnificent Whitsundays.This time we were on the fabulous Whitsunday Freedom. She is a wonderful boat under power and under sail - with everything you could ever want on board , including power winches for the tender, a desalination plant for plenty of hot showers, ample refrigeration, great nav panel, super quiet generator, private satellite coms for daily updates and chats with your guide and so much more. She is also rated for getting to the outer islands - and Border Island was a first for us along the way.I could not recommend Portland Roads more highly.

Since 2018 I have bare-boat chartered with Portland Roads three times and I have another two charters booked for this year (2022). The large and luxurious yachts are always in excellent condition and with great accessories within the cabin, in the cockpit, and on the deck. The service is always responsive and relaxed, professional and supportive. The planning and preparation is always true to form and any issues arising before and during the sail is addressed with care, kindness, and speed, with good information sharing and always a little humour. The Whitsunday sailing waters are amongst the very best on Earth and the understanding of this ancient Sea and Country, and its First Peoples, is poignant and always inspiring. We took a 6 day charter on Whitsunday Freedom from Airlie Beach in March. It was hands-down the best holiday ever. The boat was beautifully appointed with all modern conveniences and all elements required to be ultra comfortable in any conditions (including a water maker and air-conditioning). Brad was exceptional from his communication pre-charter, his very thorough briefing and constantly staying in touch to communicate the weather conditions and offer alternatives to maximise our experience. It made bareboat chartering very relaxed and approachable. We were constantly reminded by all locals that Portland Roads were known for exceptional service and vessels and they lived up to the hype. Cannot recommend them enough and can't wait to return.

We have just returned from an amazing 6 day charter with the guys from Portland Roads at Airlie Beach. Our crew was two families (four adults and four kids total) and the Whitsunday Freedom was the ideal vessel for the trip. Incredibly comfortable with four large cabins and each one with its own bathroom (toilet and shower) and air conditioning. We all had acres of space and at no stage were we cramping each others style.Special shout out to Brad who stayed in regular contact with us, to make sure we were always up to date with any changing weather conditions and to recommend alternatives to our planned route.Quick tip – if you can be flexible on your daily destination and open to adventure, you will have the most amazing holiday. We had some challenging conditions, but with Brad’s expertise, we managed to explore some brilliant pockets of the beautiful Whitsundays in comfort and safety. A full, glowing 5 star rating and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommend.
