We had an awesome time with our crew of 5 onboard Due West for a summertime trip. The team were super easy to work with and really open with some last minute changes. They also really flexible during some bad weather days and helped us work around it to still get out and see everything Airlie has to offer. The boat itself was comfortable, easy to handle and all you could need for a week of hanging out in the best spot Australia has to offer. We've already started planning our next trip back with an even larger crew!

We would like to thank John, Mike and the team at Portland Roads for an unbelievable holiday, touring the Whitsunday Islands.We were aboard "Lawless" for six nights in January 2024. Prior to this adventure, we had little to no boating and sailing experience. Mike took us through our five hour briefing and that same afternoon, he wished us all the best, he departed the boat and we were off alone!The catamaran had 4 double cabins with 4 ensuites. The living areas were spacious and the boat itself was modern and very well equiped.Our family of 5 (plus one friend) had an experience of a lifetime. We were able to navigate, moor, anchor and maintain the beautiful Lawless. We cruised the islands, snorkelled most days, had a bbq breakfast at Whitehaven Beach, spotted turtles and dolphins, viewed historic Aboriginal art work, stargazed and spent quality as a family.If you are tempted to undertake this type of adventure, just do it. We are so pleased we took the plunge.

Sailed on SV Lawless with Portland Roads and was extremely happy with our holiday.Communication from Portland Roads is great, with prompt replies and very helpful information regarding your trip.Our sail guide Mike was exceptional. His knowledge of the islands and anchorages was fantastic and helped us ensure we had a stress free and safe trip with regular weather updates and suggestions for anchorages in the forecast winds.The boat had everything we needed for a great holiday, and the only thing I could say as a negative, was the fact there was no air conditioning on the boat, although we were told it is being trialed, so hopefully next time we come back it will be installed.Overall, we had an amazing holiday on SV Lawless and will be coming back again.

Just spent the last week on Lucy one of the fleet of Portland Roads - Sailing the Whitsundays. This is an adventure I have been very keen to take my family on for years and finally we were able to make it happen. So glad we went with Portland Roads, such a great organisation and totally professional and caring throughout.Lucy - while she is an older boat she was perfect in every way for us. Easy to handle, comfortable, a great size and had more onboard than we needed.Brad - the master vessel manager. He was the ideal instructor to get a few nervous and new sailors out to sea safely with confidence. With his nearly three decades sailing in the region we were very happy to follow all of his recommendations and had the best time because of it. Knowing a pro like Brad is on the other end of the comms gives confidence that you are being looked after 24/7.We will sail the Whitsundays again and when we do it will without a doubt be with Portland Roads. I can't recommend this sailing adventure and Portland Roads highly enough.

Impressive from the start! Our introduction to the adventure began with the incredible Marvellous Mike at the marina. His comprehensive briefing provided us with all the necessary details for a seamless and enjoyable week-long sailing escapade. We were fortunate to navigate the pristine waters on the new Lawless catamaran, which comfortably accommodated our group of 8.From the moment we set sail, when we were turtle spotting, or taking refreshing swims, or exploring the picturesque islands, our experience felt nothing short of heavenly. Kudos to Portland Roads for their respectful approach to the Traditional Owners of the Whitsundays, and their commitment to the ethos of leaving only footprints and taking only memories. This is a company that aligns with my personal values.This marked my second voyage with Portland Roads, and without a doubt, I look forward to returning for more unforgettable journeys!

Myself and 7 friends recently spent time on board, The Lawless. Where do I start? This whole trip was perfect from the start until the end. From our greeting and safety briefing with Mike, to our knowledgeable and friendly captain Josh, to the absolute palace-on-water that we got to live on for a week. My experience with Portland Roads was nothing but 5 star.The boat itself was massive. I am 185cm and another friend who was onboard is well over 2m, and we both slept comfortably in our beds. Full sized, single person showers, enough fridge and freezer space for the 8 of us for the duration of our trip, all the creature comforts of home, and plenty of space on board to lounge around or soak up some rays. The kitchen on this boat was insane. It was fully equipped with all a chef could need, so every night we were able to eat like Kings and Queens. There was plenty of storage on board the boat too, we didn’t even come close to filling it all. Also for those who suffer from sea-sickness (like my fiancé) prepare for limited rocking on this catamaran. Honestly blew me away how stable we were throughout the trip (even when we passed through a storm and some rougher seas).A big thank you to our captain who not only taught us the ins-and-outs of sailing, but also gave us a comprehensive briefings about the sea country of the First Nations peoples on which we would be travelling. The history and culture of this part of Australia is epic.Another big thank you to all the staff at Portland Roads, you made my proposal to my Fiancé perfect. I will never forget this trip. Portland Roads you were worth every dollar!! Thank you!

Had the most amazing time on Whitsunday Freedom, best trip ever!!! We enjoyed every magical moment, just when you think it couldn’t get any better, it did!!! The boat was clean, lots of room and hidey holes for all your gear and supplies. The support crew provided us with everything we needed before departure and communicated with us throughout, thanks again Guy and Brad 😊The snorkelling was spectacular with lots of coral and the marine life was breathtaking. So grateful to live and play in the most beautiful country on earth@john We will definitely be back ❤❤❤

There is so much room to create lifelong memories with those friends you cherish!As a First Nations Australian, it is so warming and refreshing to see how much respect and care this company give in acknowledging the Ngaro people, Gia Country, and Juru!seeing the Aboriginal flag proudly waving in the wind amongst paradise had me smiling the whole trip.
